Here's a quick informational video about choosing the best golf bag for you:

Types of Golf Bags

Tour or Staff bags are your largest or roomiest bag, also know as tour bags.

Cart bags are smaller than staff bags, but still kind of big and bulky to carry around the course, hence the name. Best for use on a cart.

Stand golf bags have 2 legs to prop up your bag on the course, are lightweight and usually have comfortable shoulder straps. They have fewer and/or smaller compartments, but less bulky and easier to carry when on the links.

Travel bags are protective covers for your golf bag while traveling. There are soft and hard case designs. Soft are lightweight compared to hard case, but offer less protection. Hard cases however are good for abuse, bad for trying to fit inside a small trunk of a car.

Bags for Women, Lefty's and Children
There are bags made especially for women now on the market today. For example, Ann Taylor makes bags exclusively for women, with personalization and styling that suits a woman's needs.

Are you a left-handed golfer who would like a left-handed golf bag? No problem, Izzo has designed a left-handed ultra lightweight and super lightweight stand bag just for you. More and more golf bag manufacturers are following suit and coming out with bags just for you leftys.

Want to bring your child to the course? Well let them carry their own clubs in their very own bag made just for them. There are extra-small, lightweight bags made just for kids. Just make sure not to overload them so your child doesn't get tired of carrying instead of enjoying playing golf with mom and dad.

Golf Bag Weight

If you will not be using a cart or don't have a caddie to carry your bag, then you'll want to consider getting a lightweight bag that is easy to carry and not too bulky or oversized. Look for lightweight or now they even have "super" lightweight bags that are much easier to tote around on the course. A happy medium is a bag that is light and comfortable to carry, yet provides enough room for all your clubs and accessories.

Golf Bag Price

You can buy a golf bag at your local discount big box store for $50 or a fine golf retailer for $1,000. So what price should you pay for a bag? You can get a high quality, durable, functional, good-looking bag by paying, on average, anywhere between $100-$300. I say spend less on your golf bag and spend more on your golf equipment, like clubs, which is more important to your golf game than a fancy, schmancy, diamond-studded bag.
